Giving

My husband and I think it's important to take the time in life to give back. We are a typical, one salary family trying to make ends meet most of the time but I still feel that we have much much more than many.

We prefer to give back by sending money to families we hear about or read about that are in a bind rather than giving to a large corporation that spends most of it on administration. $100 can mean so much more when given to a single mom trying to make ends meet during the holidays rather than spending it at Target.

Find out about your local organizations and donate freely. Places that are always in need of not only monetary but household goods are Habitat for Humanity. Habitat also has a hand me up thrift store so that the proceeds from your used good donations go to the homes they build. Also, look for local organizations that support victims of domestic abuse. These support groups are almost always in need of anything related to the house; linents, dishes, clothing, furniture, office supplies, etc. And finally, look for organizations supporting the homeless. Many of these organizations help the homeless set up residences and are in need of furniture and other household items.
